Flying Phobia - Tips On Overcoming Flying Fear
Fear of flying could be an enfeebling and frustrating condition where you can't even think about getting on an airplane without breaking into a cold sweat.
PR Log (Press Release) – Jan 19, 2010 – Fear of flying could be a enfeebling and frustrating condition
where you can't even think about getting on aplane without breaking into a cold sweat and starting to feel
as if you might have a panic episode at any moment. Many people who suffer from being afraid to fly find
that they suffer from panic episodes when they are forced to consider flying. Symptoms of these include
sweating, racing heartbeat and heart, chest pains and other aches and pains that may make you not just
very uncomfortable, but occasionally, you might realize that you think that you are having a coronary.
Fears arise from our foolish assumptions that the things we can't control will turn out to be bad
experiences.
For instance, with flying we have absolutely no control; everything is in the hands of the captain. And even if
we needed to, we can't just stop the aeroplane and get off. Where do these assumptions come from
though? We certainly are not born with these fears; they are learned through our experiences and thru the
experiences of others. Try to think of a time that triggered your fear of flying, it might be a personal
experience of a turbulent flight you had, the alarmed stories of others, or the scary pictures seen on
television. It's likely that your imagination takes these experiences and increases them into a worse case
scenario that accentuates your fear of flying. You want to use your imagination to conquer fear of flying,
rather than allowing it to feed the dread. If your conscious mind starts to panic at the very idea of stepping
onto an aircraft, it's time to do a little research and quell your fears. The media focus on plane accidents
because so many people are involved.
Yet they ignore vehicle accidents which regularly harm more people than flying does. If you're happy to
drive then you should be in a position to rationalize your thoughts to acknowledge that flying is even safer.
There is no need to be scared of flying. It may help to educate yourself more on the ins and outs of aviation.
It can be helpful to get a more robust knowledge of how airplanes function and the science that keeps them
up in the air. Try to find books or other media that will explain how it all works in plain English. Hunt down support.
Maybe your acquaintances and family can offer you valuable support if you are feeling you can have trust in them and
they can sympathise with you. There are loads of web support forums on how to fly without fear as well where
members can share experiences and offer effective coping systems. If you have some cash to spend you can also
