How did Canada get its name? Most Canadians, if asked about the origins of the name “Canada”, will admittedly lament their ignorance of that part of Canadian history. Of those that do remember, they might even recall the “official” version of how Canada got its name, the one they received from the TV commercial “A Part Of Our Heritage – Canada.” After all, Canadian history is not a subject taught in the schools, per se. Education remains in provincial jurisdiction so each region features their preferred understandings of Canada’s history. As such, there are many competing theories on how Canada came to be known and called. All of them fascinating and equally compelling, but only three theories tend to capture the hearts and minds of historians and researchers more so than the others. The Montreal Biodome (Biodôme de Montréal in French) is one of four Nature Museums in one of the most beautiful cities in North America and a great place to visit for a family with children. Precious Memories
My memories are mine no
one can remove them from
my heart.
The sweetest dearest memories
that warm the depth of
this Mothers heart.
The times they struggled
with their first step
oh what a memory that has kept.
The hugs and the kisses they
all gave me.
Oh I remember how they would tell
me they loved me everyday.
With little notes and drawings
and kisses oh so sweet
How those times are held
with in my heart, so very very deep.
And at times when I am looking
through an album of them all
and see them when they where oh so
cute and so very small.
The tears fill in my eyes for I miss those years
most of all.
When they where so very small.
I miss how they needed me and how I
was their friend and when hurt needed
only me to depend.
Remembering them in Christmas concerts
and walking to the school, talking
to the teachers and reading to them books.
How a smile and giggle lifted my day
in so many ways.
They where my life my joy my pride
my sorrow and yes my tears
for so many years.
Precious memories I hold you never
to depart from the depths of
this mothers heart.
So very small, my heart fills to the top.
And their it over fills, oh I miss my babys
it does not seem that long ago.
When I held them in my arms and wiped
away the tears, and that holding on to
my hand would melt away all their fears.
Thank you precious memories for the times you
gave to me, for without them my heart
would be truly empty and dark.
However with the light of memories even
thou they bring a tear, I know that I was
blessed by each memory I hold so dear.
