The Stebnyk School of Music opened August 1st in 1969 by the decision of the executive committee of the Lviv Oblast Council of Deputies number 560. The School has become an important part of aesthetic education of the younger generation of local "Stebnychan" whose main task was and is to provide children the right and opportunity to learn folk songs, rich in folklore, and peruse the best examples of Ukrainian and international art.
Currently, teaching staff includes 40 instructors. Of these, 26 are graduates of the Stebnyk Music School, which after completing a higher music education returned to their home soil to continue our good traditions.
There is a student contingent of 220 students enrolled in various departments: piano, strings, stringed instruments, folk instruments, brass and percussion instruments, as well as in connection with the introduction of new methods and means of work and time requirements. In 2002 and since 2004, a class in pop singing (solo), and a class in fine arts were respectfully introduced. All departments are working efficiently and have many accomplishments.
Over 40 years of teaching has produced some 1200 school graduates, 250 of whom continued in the high school arts programs for various levels of accreditation. Of course, not all graduates chose music as their specialty, but many of them take part in amateur group schools where they continue to learn. Music never leaves them. It enriches them spiritually as well as their lives.
