Were these thugs arrested or prosecuted for their criminal behavior? Not a chance. In light of this new evidence, the All-Ukrainian organization "Svoboda" is calling for a renewal of the investigation of the September 2, 2007 attack (http://misto.odessa.ua/index.php?u=novosti/odessa/nom,15615,17.2.2009). “Even if there is an investigation, they will never find anyone. Last year, the Director of Prosvita [Eds. Enlightenment Society] was blocked in his office and things thrown through the window, it took the police half an hour to arrive, even though the station is at most 500 meters away”, says Djonny1929, one chat Forum participant from Odesa (http://www.ua-football.com/forum/discussions/404628.html). If this criminal behavior goes unpunished, as another chat forum participant says, “this is political civil war” claims FC Desna from Chernihiv. How will all this end? No one knows for sure, but these demonstrators are not taking any more chances and have taken steps to protect themselves from future attacks by enlisting Kozak guards. In the meantime, anti-Ukrainian chauvinist Deputy Councilor Igor Markov still presides on the Odesa city Council as a member.
Would this kind of criminal behavior be tolerated in any civilized Western state? I think not. If nothing else is accomplished, then at least Odesa Deputy (City) Councilor Igor O. Markov and friends should be blacklisted and barred from entering any civilized democratic country bold enough to tell him otherwise.

(See http://www.axisglobe.com/article.asp?article=1783 ) Another article published March 22, 2009 in the Odessa Globe news also reported that the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) just arrested Igor Markov. SBU has not said anything about the arrest yet (http://www.odessaglobe.com/nwosh/8149).
Related News Item: April 22nd Update
On April 22nd, thousands of citizens came out to mourn the death of 21-year old Odesa National University journalism student and young Ukrainian youth organization “Sich” activist, Maxym Chaika. He was stabbed to death on the evening of April 17 by Pro-Russian extremist organization “Antifa” members who apparently have ties to ex-deputy city Councilor Igor Markov’s party “Rodina”. Maksym was especially critical of Markov and his party's activities. Andrey Dzeban, Maxym’s close friend, was stabbed as well and remains hospitalized. Rodina party members deny the allegations. Local police are trying to write it off as a local street fight, but several local Ukrainian organizations are calling it a political murder financed by Moscow who is up to their old Beria OGPU and NKVD tactics to spread instability in the region. It is not difficult to see in the original story and video above who the Odesa police really work for. To everyday Odesytans, Igor Markov is just an ex-city Councilor, but amongst the criminal element, he is known as “Maradona”. A criminal investigation into the matter has begun.
