CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS — A CALL FOR INCLUSIVENESS, EQUITY AND FAIRNESS
Featured Article
The CMHR represents a unique opportunity for Canada to be recognized as a leader in reflecting and further advancing contemporary research on genocide and human rights and in telling the story of all genocides without any attempt to represent the suffering of one nation, tribe or community as having been of more relevance or importance than any other’s. All attempts to do so argue fundamentally do an injustice to the memory of the many millions of victims of genocide throughout the ages, whether they suffered in Europe, or somewhere else.
How did Canada get its name? Most Canadians, if asked about the origins of the name “Canada”, will admittedly lament their ignorance of that part of Canadian history. Of those that do remember, they might even recall the “official” version of how Canada got its name, the one they received from the TV commercial “A Part Of Our Heritage – Canada.” After all, ...

“Dinner in the Sky”: An Haute Cuisine Experience
posted on: 2010-07-15 23:19:23
by Ihor Cap
Are you the kind of person that likes to experience something unique? Maybe you just want to impress that someone special. More and more people everywhere are doing it with “haute cuisine.” No, not that kind of haute cuisine. I mean the “Dinner in the Sky” thing, where the restaurant “floats” in the air at a height of 50 meters. What a way to leave a lasting impression on your guest!
People are renting the “restaurant in the sky” facilities for all kinds of occasions and the price includes a chef, waiter and an entertainer. Restaurant staff varies to meet your budget needs. You have an option to engage an additional two staff members. It’s not cheap though. One “gig” may cost you and yours truly over $500 dollars alone and that does not include the tip. The restaurant seats 22 individuals that are strapped in four-point racecar style seat belts, enough room to host your very exclusive event up there while the birds hover below you. You can host your event at a golf course, in the park, a heritage site or any other place you desire, with permission of course. Wherever you go, the restaurant goes. Apparently, the 120 tonne crane and 9 by 5 meter restaurant platform is mobile and it travels with you. You will require a surface of about 500 square meters to secure the crane and restaurant platform in place. According to dinnerinthesky.com, the restaurant comes with optional lights, heating, sound, TV screens and a customized banner and seat stickers to promote your special occasion. It takes about 2 hours to set up the “restaurant in the sky” and only one hour to dismantle it.
Over 15 countries and 30 venues the world over are already hosting special dinners, cocktail events, and even business meetings in what maybe one of the most breathtaking experiences under the sun. New “Dining in the Sky” partnerships are popping up everywhere, Ukraine, Israel, Latvia, Portugal, Sweden and even Chile. The next one is scheduled to open July 29 at the Centro polis Laval, Quebec held in collaboration with the Fêtes Gourmandes Internationales 2010. Who was it that said, “The sky's the limit?” Well apparently, there is none for the Belgium inventors of this apparatus.
