CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS — A CALL FOR INCLUSIVENESS, EQUITY AND FAIRNESS
Featured Article
The CMHR represents a unique opportunity for Canada to be recognized as a leader in reflecting and further advancing contemporary research on genocide and human rights and in telling the story of all genocides without any attempt to represent the suffering of one nation, tribe or community as having been of more relevance or importance than any other’s. All attempts to do so argue fundamentally do an injustice to the memory of the many millions of victims of genocide throughout the ages, whether they suffered in Europe, or somewhere else.
How did Canada get its name? Most Canadians, if asked about the origins of the name “Canada”, will admittedly lament their ignorance of that part of Canadian history. Of those that do remember, they might even recall the “official” version of how Canada got its name, the one they received from the TV commercial “A Part Of Our Heritage – Canada.” After all, ...

DECOMMUNIZATION OF UKRAINE petition
DECOMMUNIZATION OF UKRAINE
After 18 years of Ukraine's independence, Lenin's monuments still stand on the central squares and streets of Ukrainian towns and villages, the monuments to the very same Lenin that is guilty of mass murder and terror against the Ukrainian and other peoples. And although Viktor Yushchenko, the President of Ukraine, had called for the removal of these monuments more than two and a half years ago, the young Ukrainians (Mykola Kokhanivskyi, Bohdan Frant, Ivan Sribnyi, Andriy Tarasenko, Oleksandr Zadorozhnyi), who heeded his call and dared to touch Lenin’s monument in Kyiv on June 30, are to be tried by a Ukrainian court for “hooliganism” and destruction of “national cultural heritage.” President Yushchenko has been silent so far about the whole affair for more than a month and a half.
In the meantime, communists are erecting new monuments to their bloody "heroes,” including a few to Lenin himself in 2009 on the occasion of his 139th birthday, and restoring the ones that have already been damaged or destroyed by the people.
It's time to draw the line right here and now. Mykola Kokhanivskyi and his friends must be freed immediately.
This is why we must make our voices heard and our efforts united in this long overdue battle for complete decommunization of Ukraine.
Please sign the petition by visiting http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/decommunisation/ and let President Yushchenko know that good intentions alone don't suffice. It's time for action.
