CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS — A CALL FOR INCLUSIVENESS, EQUITY AND FAIRNESS

Featured Article

The CMHR represents a unique opportunity for Canada to be recognized as a leader in reflecting and further advancing contemporary research on genocide and human rights and in telling the story of all genocides without any attempt to represent the suffering of one nation, tribe or community as having been of more relevance or importance than any other’s. All attempts to do so argue fundamentally do an injustice to the memory of the many millions of victims of genocide throughout the ages, whether they suffered in Europe, or somewhere else.

FAQ

How do I change my password?

Log in, and Click the Edit Account button. Enter your Old Password, Enter your New Password, Confirm your new password, and  Click the Change Password button.

I do not see a category I like. Can I suggest a category to you?

Yes, you can. Just write us and Suggest a Category. Send your e mail to .

Can I insert a video or audio clip and Picture/Photo in my article or blog?

The short answer is yes. You will be able to insert any URL hypertext link, You Tube video and Image/Picture or audio file link into your article or blog.

You can upload several images/pictures for your article via the "Browse" button upload. Acceptable image formats via the "Browse" upload button are gif, jpg, jpeg, and png.

If you wish to insert any other pictures or photos within your article or blog, you can also use the little yellow square image icon located in the first row of the tool bar menu above the body of your article that says "Insert/Edit Image" when your cursor hovers over it.  In order to insert photos using this yellow icon, you must predefine the location you want your picture to be inserted into using the table creator icon located in the second row of the tool bar menu, define the size of the photo, then insert the photo in your specified place using the yellow icon. Repeat the same process for your YouTube video inserts. See Figure 1. below.

What font size should I use?

If you already have a pre-finished Word article or Notepad document and want to copy and paste it into the Article Body, Arial 12 is a nice easy read size. That is what you are seeing here. If you are typing your article directly within this Article Body choose Arial and Medium for your size. Use Large or Extra large font size for your title. Sub-headings may be Medium and bolded in size. These guidelines are practical and therefore recommended.

What is the maximum allowable width of diagrams, figures and tables?

Your tables, figures, and diagrams should be no larger than 700 pixels wide.

What is the "Tools" module for in the top right hand corner of the site?

The "Tools" module tab appears only when you click upon an article in order to read it. It appears in the top right hand corner of the web page.

Available tools are as follows: Print an article, Bookmarking an article, Creating a PDF file of an article, and Tell a Friend.

What is the best way to transfer Word documents or any other Wordprocessing documents with contents that I have into the body of the WYSIWYG?

Sometimes I the hidden codes in MS Word or any other wordprocessing document get in the way of controlling your article or blog. MS Word, inserts invalid HTML tags, appropriate only for the MS Office environment. Here is what you can do to get rid of those tags before you paste your article or blog into our web site.

> 1. Open your article/blog for editing,
> 2. Copy the article/blog text to Notepad and from notepad paste it back into our web site WYSIWYG editor. This operation strips the MS Word office tags.
> 3. Now you can format (layout) your article or blog with our builtin WYSIWYG editor
> 4. Saving your article or blog every now and then is a good idea. I also copy the html code of all my articles and blogs and paste them all back in to Notepad where its stored safely. I could always "restore" an article from my backup Notepad file by clicking the Source button. When it turns blue it is now in html mode. Paste your code there and click source again and you will see your article layout on the screen as the viewer would see it.

Note: if you had any href tags and need to restore them, just use the href tag below and replace it with your URL address and text:

<a href="http://articlesandblogs.ezreklama.com/pub/articles/baking-cooking-food/the-almond-tree-sweetens-up-the-market-at-the-forks-7790.htm" style="font-size:11px;text-decoration:none; color: #010101;">Candy Store</a>

An added benefit to doing it this way is that the PDF generator will format your article or blog properly.

How do I create an HTML hypertext link for my article or blog post?

Using the HTML reference tag below. Just insert your own url address to send your reader where you want to take them after they click it. Also, replace "Candy Store" with your own text.

<a href="http://articlesandblogs.ezreklama.com/pub/articles/baking-cooking-food/the-almond-tree-sweetens-up-the-market-at-the-forks-7790.htm" style="font-size:11px;text-decoration:none; color: #010101;">Candy Store</a>
